Baddest. Dog. EVER.

Take a good long look at this picture before continuing... Note how sweet and innocent Mr. Yellow Dog looks - like he would never harm a fly...he lives in peace with all creature bigs and small. Heck, he even shares his bed with a cat... This dog looks just about perfect.

Now I submit to you Baddest Dog Ever Exhibit A. Well, it's the only exhibit actually but CHECK THIS OUT!!

Can you believe this cause I can't?? For 5 years, we have lived like slobs, littering socks on the floor with nary a care and they've been left untouched. Until now...but the part that is really bothering me is why this sock? There are plenty of ordinary store bought socks laying around for the taking - why THIS sock? His only saving grace is that he didn't go through the cable. I think i can fix this - knit up a new ribbed cuff, cut off this mess and somehow kitchener it together. Please someone, tell me I can fix this...

With the loss of this sock and a toe sticking through on another pair, I cast on a new pair of plain ole boring grey ribbed ones for Brad. This is my new TV knitting...about another inch or so til I turn the heel.

And lest you think I'm completely selfless, I've got a little something completely marvelous on the needles for myself...

I saw this DGS Confetti at the yarn store on Friday and it absolutely screamed "Jaywalker!"

Lost Socks

Following the advice of you lovely ladies and out of sheer necessity, I cast on for the most simple sock ever constructed to keep me company while Lost is on. Another pair of Striped Devotion Socks minus the Stripes from Weekend Knitting.

This time purple heather...

Pretty boring, yes? While I will admit they are not riveting knitting, they are extremely practical both as a Lost project where the absolute minimum of brain power is available for use and as a wearable FO. This is just the kind of simple house sock that I put on as soon as I get home from work to kick around in for the evening. And did I mention how quick they are? In the dark without even trying, you can finish one of these puppies in just a few episodes.

Specs are the same as the first pair - Briggs and Little 100% wool. I've also been working on the baby blanket but frankly it looks pretty much the same just ever so slightly longer. And there has been some sock drama at the house this week (and I'm not talking about a puppet show) but I'll get to that in another post...

Where Have I Been?

I've been watching Lost. We bought Season 1 last week and I cannot stay away from it. I can't stop watching because 1) I can't figure out what the heck is going to happen and 2) I have a major crush on Matthew Fox - remember him from Party of Five? He's back! On Lost! And more smokin' than ever I dare say...

Anyway, enough about my hot doctor on a deserted island fantasies... ;-) Let's get to the knitting!

I've been working on this:

Which Will become this:

Only about 5 feet to go... I had so much difficulty starting this project. It is 250 stitches wide and I could not for the life of me get the first 2 rows of pattern to work out - my count was off everytime. Then I finally got through them and suddenly everything was obvious. Once those foundation rows are down, it's smooth sailing from there. Still though, I'm going to be casting on a TV watching project tonight. I can't work on this with Matthew Fox wandering the beach...or the jungle.
